Programme Island Centres in 2010
Seeking Peace …. in love and service
Two themes will direct our thinking on Iona in 2010; the need for peace in our world, and the deep desire that Christians might speak with a
more gracious and unified voice. So we shall be joined by a number of well-known speakers through the year who will help us in our thinking;
details of these weeks are in the programme.
In our popular Gathering Place weeks we shall seek that peace and grace through our usual pattern of worship and work, conversation and
reflection, with sessions led by members of the team, and Iona Community Members. These will include themes such as justice and peace,
ecumenism and inclusiveness, Celtic Christianity in a post-modern world, the Gospel and art, and probably others!
As well as specific sessions on our theme, in all our weeks we shall continue to offer opportunities to explore spiritual journeys, the healing
ministry, and include activities such a music and singing, gardening and housekeeping, craft and creativity; or there is the opportunity to
take time to explore the island, its natural beauty and life.
Journey with people from all over the world, as we live and laugh together and share our stories, in workshops or over peeling the vegetables.
Be refreshed and inspired as we experience life, faith and our journey together in new ways.
Together we join in a ministry of hospitality to renew us as we seek justice and peace in a fractured world.

Speaking of the
Unmentionables
with John Bell
- there are some things of which church and society find it difficult to speak clearly: things like peace, money, power, death and
heaven, the fate of the earth. This can lead to the presumption among Christians and others that on such matters the Bible is silent. In
fact it speaks volumes. In this week we begin to lift the lid on less popular issues. |
